TROUBLESHOOTING - OPERATION
Troubleshooting - operation
Symptom: Dif昀椀culty Lighting the Fire
Cause
Wood moisture level above 20% (blue smoke
seen from chimney)
Large fuel added too quickly
Low 昀氀ue draught
Rear of ashpit full of ash preventing air昀氀ow
Grate completely covered in ash
Solution
Use wood with less than 20% moisture. Short,
well-split logs stored under cover with open sides
dry the quickest.
Use intermediate-sized wood before adding full
logs to allow the 昀椀re to establish properly.
Have the chimney swept and inspected. If the
problem persists, consult your installer.
Clean out the ashpit at the rear of the stove to
restore air昀氀ow.
Clear a small area of ash to allow air to 昀氀ow up
through the grate.
Symptom: Low Heat Output or Excessive Fuel Consumption
Cause
Wood moisture level above 20% (blue smoke
seen from chimney) or poor-quality fuel
Worn rope seals or door adjustment causing air
leaks
Solution
Use wood with less than 20% moisture. Change to
a higher-quality fuel for improved performance.
Renew the rope seals and re-adjust the door
closure to ensure a proper seal and ef昀椀cient
combustion.
Symptom: High Heat Output and Excessive Fuel Consumption
Cause
Air controls too far open
Fuel load too large
Flue draught too high

Solution
Reduce the air control settings, but ensure there is
still suf昀椀cient air for clean combustion. Starving
the 昀椀re of air can lead to poor and dirty
combustion.
Do not overload the stove, as excessive fuel can
cause heat damage to components.
Consult your installer to address and manage
excessive 昀氀ue draught issues.
