DISPOSAL AND RECYCLING GUIDANCE
Disposal and Recycling Guidance
In compliance with Article 4 of EU Council Directive 75/442/EEC and the WEEE Directive, certain
components of this appliance must be disposed of or recovered separately to minimise environmental
impact and support recycling efforts.
Metal components such as steel can be taken to a local recycling centre for reuse, reducing waste going
to land昀椀ll. Cast iron parts should also be recycled at appropriate facilities to recover valuable materials.
Ceramic stove glass cannot be recycled through standard glass recycling streams due to its heatresistant properties. When disposing of ceramic stove glass, ensure it is securely packaged to prevent
injury or damage during transport, and dispose of it as general waste in accordance with local waste
disposal regulations.
Vermiculite linings are non-hazardous materials. These linings can be crushed and reused as plant
bedding. Ash from the appliance is suitable for composting or can be taken to a local recycling centre for
disposal in an environmentally friendly manner.
Rope seals are made from Refractory Ceramic Fibre (RCF), a material commonly used for this
application. While protective clothing is not required when handling RCF rope seals, it is recommended to
avoid smoking, eating, or drinking in the work area, and to wash hands thoroughly before eating or
drinking. When servicing the appliance, it is important not to break up replaced rope seals. Instead, these
items should be sealed within heavy-duty polythene bags and labelled as RCF waste. RCF waste is
classi昀椀ed as stable, non-reactive hazardous waste and should be disposed of at a licensed land昀椀ll site.
Electrical components, such as fan kits or other similar items, should be taken to a local recycling centre
in accordance with the WEEE Directive to ensure proper disposal.
