Fires Can Be Dangerous: Always use a 昀椀reguard compliant with BS 8423:2002 when children, the
elderly, or in昀椀rm individuals are present.
Unauthorised Modi昀椀cations: Do not perform modi昀椀cations to the appliance as this could seriously
compromise safety and functionality.
Do Not Over昀椀re: Over昀椀ring the stove can cause parts to buckle or damage the appliance. Signs of
over昀椀ring include any part of the stove, such as the baf昀氀e plate or fuel retainer, glowing red. Adjust
the controls immediately to reduce the 昀椀re. Never leave the stove unattended for long periods
without setting the air controls to a safe, reduced level.
Flammable Materials: Flammable materials, furniture, and combustible items, including fuel, must
not be stored on, under, or near the lit appliance and its heat radiation zone, as speci昀椀ed in the
clearance-to-combustibles guidelines.
Tall Stand Usage
Do not store logs or any 昀氀ammable items underneath the appliance when using a tall stand.
Soft Furnishings Clearance
Ensure that all soft furnishings are kept at least 1 metre away from the front of the appliance to prevent
any risk of heat damage or 昀椀re hazards.
Fume Emissions
Properly installed and operated, this appliance will not emit fumes. Occasional fumes during de-ashing or
refuelling may occur and are not usually a concern. Persistent fume emissions, however, are potentially
dangerous and must not be tolerated. If persistent fume emissions occur:
1. Open doors and windows to ventilate the room.
2. Let the 昀椀re go out or safely remove and dispose of fuel from the stove.
3. Check for 昀氀ue or chimney blockages and clean if necessary.
4. Do not attempt to relight the stove until the cause of the fume emissions has been identi昀椀ed and
recti昀椀ed. Seek expert advice if required.
In the Event of a Chimney Fire
1. Raise the Alarm: Alert others in the house and call the Fire Service immediately.
2. Reduce Burning Rate: Close all air controls fully to slow the 昀椀re.
3. Remove Combustibles: Move furniture, rugs, and ornaments away from the 昀椀replace. Place a 昀椀reguard
or spark guard in front of the stove.
4. Check for Heat: Feel the chimney breast for signs of excessive heat. If the wall becomes hot, move
furniture further away and ensure the Fire Service can access your roof space to check for 昀椀re spread.
5. Do Not Relight: Do not relight the stove until the chimney and 昀氀ue have been inspected by a
professional.
